Championships Finals Day 19th October 2014

The 2014 Club Championships ran from September with group stages to the semi finals and finals weekend culminating on finals day on Sunday 19th October. The group stages were as normal competitively fought with all players and pairs having a chance to play against each other and there were some very tight groups to decide who qualified for the semi finals. These were then played on the Friday evening in 'variable' conditions to enable the finals to be played on the Sunday.

The men's singles final was played between Sergio Alarcon and Ben Stiles in which some very high quality, hard hitting tennis including some great athleticism around the court from both players provided the crowd with some great entertainment. Ben won the first set and looked to be applying a great deal of pressure on Sergio who had to dig in and he then leveled the match at 1 set all. Sergio then took another closely battled final set to emerge the winner 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.

The mixed doubles was played between Kate Stancombe and Andy Rees against Jo Busby and Robin Godfrey. Kate and Andy managed to hold on to take the match which was a very tight match of 3 sets which included tie breaks and match points for both pairs. Score: 7-6, 5-7, 7-5.
